Hi and Welcome

Most of you reading this have found this page by a variety of ways.  Some came from Afternoon Fic, others via A03, and some of you have been with me for a long long time.  I’m going to take a good guess that most of you clicked the link because you enjoyed the story you read or have stuck with me from the beginning of Sylum.

I’m hoping you will now follow me into the exciting world of published fiction, and support me in this endeavor.   There isn’t a lot of Gay Fiction in the real world, so help me get this book out there.  Get it seen.  Spread the love.

Conversations in Real Time:

Beginning with a series of emails sent back and forth between the UK and the USA, this novella is the story of how two men, one a Los Angeles detective and the other an Oxford research student, find themselves drawn to each other despite leading very different lives on opposite sides of the world.

Their relationship starts with a professional offer of assistance and through instant messaging, texting and phone calls they invade each others’ lonely and yet busy days, learning about themselves and slowly falling in love as they discover they both need something from the other until they finally get a meeting face to face and can get up close and personal.

Conversations in Real Time

Summary:

Imagine working everyday for the person you love, but can never truly have.

When Michael Oliver’s neatly laid out career path took a sharp right turn from Afghanistan to Washington D.C., he figured his training as a US Army Ranger would never let him down. But swapping fatigues and combat gear for a dark suit and earpiece, he almost paid the supreme price guarding the Speaker of the House.

Then he found himself guarding the quirky little Senator from Los Angeles whom no one ever imagined might come to win the White House.

Not that he’d ever imagined falling in love with the man either, but there was no escaping it.

Michael had a plan though. It was a well thought out, long term plan that would have allowed him to finally retire away from the one person he could never truly have, and focus all his efforts on the Patron Saints Winery he’d bought years before in California.

But a bunch of domestic terrorists and a woman with a grudge, decided to get in the way first, leaving Michael and his Secret Service Team to do the unthinkable in their fight to save the President of the United States:

Hay muchas historias románticas, pero en Conversations in Real Time se da una mezcla perfecta entre la originalidad y la naturalidad. El desarrollo de la relación a distancia, a través de las nuevas tecnologías, no se fuerza, no hay dramatismo y/o giros extravagantes que quieren llamar nuestra atención, solo Daniel y James. No necesitarás nada más

I didn’t know if I would like this book because it’s all conversation in one form or another. Where’s the action, the romance… well it’s amazing the amount of both of those things that can be found in a conversation. Two men who meet long distance and between emails, text, IM and phone calls grow to know each other and fall in love. The action is there, the romance is there (boy is the romance there) and you get to watch the relationship grow from friendship to much more.

Did I end up liking this book, no I ended up loving this book. It’s been put into ‘my day sucked and I need something good to read’ rotation. It always makes my day a little better!
