You are about to enter a world where morality has a different meaning. What you are about to see may seem abnormal to you but normal to the men and women on the screen. For you have entered the twilight zone.

Yelina stared up at the man in shock. A man she had trusted. She coughed on the blood filling her mouth. The young woman knew she was dying, killed by someone she never would have expected. It really didn’t make any sense to her, why? Why would he do it?

“You laying there wondering why?” He knelt down next to her, careful not to step into the forming blood pool. “You made a mistake when you went after him.”

She choked and looked at him. “Who?”

A harsh laugh answered her. “Your little game to get Horatio. Oh, don’t give me that shocked look. Everyone knew you wanted him. But you wanted him to come to you, save you from the evil Rick Stetler.”

Yelina gasped, her head shaking.

“What? You’re going to lay there and deny it? The late night phone calls, ‘Horatio could you come over, Rick got angry…’ or showing up with bruising and playing the victim. You’re a cop Yelina, one of the best in self-defense; you think we believed you just let Rick hit you?”

The woman’s eyes widened in fear and horror.

“If you had just left him alone I wouldn’t have to do this.” He stood up. “Don’t worry about Ray Jr., Horatio makes a better father than that bastard brother of his. Tell me did you lie next to Ray at night wondering what would have happened if you chose the other Caine? How much better your life would have been?”

Yelina stared at her killer, horrified how well he knew her, how deeply he saw into her very soul.

“I didn’t want to do this, but you began to move into my territory.” He pulled the gun up and cocked the hammer back. “It’s your own fault really. If you had paid attention to what Horatio was saying you would have realized that he was taken, but you pushed and pushed. You see Horatio is too nice of a person to tell you to fuck off, me on the other hand.” He pulled the trigger, the bullet piercing her heart, killing her instantly. “I’m not so nice. He’s mine.”

The young man carefully left the crime scene. No evidence was left behind. No fingerprints, shoe prints, lost hairs, loose threads, nothing. The only evidence left behind would implement another, one that had hurt Horatio more than once and needed to pay for his crimes.

She hadn’t understood. Horatio belonged to him. He would do anything to keep Horatio by his side. He had lost the only person who had ever loved him, and there was nothing he could do about it. This time there was. He would not let her get between them. He couldn’t loose him. Horatio was his life. Without him…he would die.

He should feel guilty. He just killed a person. But he didn’t. Not one shred of guilt. She tried to take his lover from him, and paid the price. He easily got rid of any evidence linking him to the crime.

It wasn’t very hard. Made him wonder why criminals were so stupid. He broke down the gun and tossed it into the bay. A small grin formed on his face, he wondered if one day Eric would find it, while diving. He changed and burned the clothes he had been wearing. Returned the ‘borrowed’ car and hitched a ride back home on the bus.

In front of him on the bus a young man was listening to his Ipod. Speed grinned, he was playing Guns N’ Roses loud enough for the whole bus to hear. He couldn’t help but enjoy the irony of the song playing. ‘I think you’ve worn your welcome honey; I’ll just see you along as I sing you this song’, he thought it was very fitting.

Letting himself into their shared home, he listened to the movements of the house. Horatio was asleep upstairs in their bed. Quietly he moved through the house, tossed his clothes into the hamper, and ducked into the bathroom for a quick shower.

He slipped on some soft cotton sleep pants and climbed into bed, curling next to his lover. Horatio slipped his arms around him, and pulled him close.

“Speed?” he asked sleepily.

Speed turned in his arms, “go back to sleep.”

“Finish those reports?” Horatio asked.

“Finally.” The younger man sighed, content in his arms. “I’m tired and just want to sleep.”

Horatio kissed the top of his head. “Sleep my love.”

The news had shocked the lab. Yelina had been found dead in her home, two gun shot wounds. When she hadn’t come in when expected, Horatio had sent over Tripp and a uniform officer to check things out, especially when Rick also hadn’t showed up.

Tripp had called Horatio and told him the bad news. Horatio had his team investigate the crime, determined to find out who did this. He was shocked when Calleigh told him the bullets matched a weapon in the database, the 9mm had belonged to Rick Stetler, who had reported it missing three weeks prior.

Eric had found Rick’s fingerprints all over the house. There had been no forced entry whoever was responsible had to have a key to the place. To top it off, Stetler was still missing, and hadn’t been seen since the day before. Yelina and he had been in a huge argument outside on the precinct steps; he had grabbed her by the arm and dragged her down the steps.

Alexx had found Rick’s DNA under Yelina’s fingernails. She told him that the first shot was to the abdomen, a slow painful wound; Yelina was alive for a few moments before the second shot to the chest.

They found Rick drunk in a dive of a bar. He had a long scratch along his neck, blood on his knuckles, which matched the bruising on Yelina’s face. Horatio ordered him sobered up and then dropped off into the interrogation room.

“Want to explain to me how your service weapon came up as a match on the bullet that killed Yelina?” Horatio demanded.

Stetler stared at the redhead in shock. “What? I have my weapon here…” His hand went to his side.

“The one you claimed was stolen a few weeks back.” Horatio showed him the report. “Plus your fingerprints were all over the house, there was no forced entry, the killer had the key, and everyone knows you two were fighting. Why?”

“I didn’t kill her,” Stetler denied any involvement.

“All the evidence points to you, just give it up.” The redhead glared at him. “What? You didn’t like the fact she was going to dump you?”

“I want my lawyer, this is a witch hunt. I didn’t kill her,” Stetler demanded.

“Not according to the evidence. You’re under arrest for the murder of Yelina Salas.” Horatio waved in the uniform officers. “These men will read you your rights.”

“I didn’t do it, I swear. Horatio!” Stetler was pulled out of the interrogation room.

“H?”

Horatio turned and smiled at his lover. “Speed, what have you got for me?”

“Trace elements on the home invasion.” He paused. “I’m sorry. I can’t imagine…”

“You being here has helped.” Horatio laid a hand on his shoulder. “Justice is being served.”

“Yes.” Speed nodded. “It is.”

Horatio looked over at Alexx as they walked along a hidden path in the park. A place they had come to often, to discuss Speed.

“I know it wasn’t Stetler,” Horatio stated.

“No honey, it wasn’t,” Alexx agreed. “What are you going to do?”

“Nothing.” The redhead looked at her. “Besides all the evidence points towards him, and he’s not fully innocent.”

Alexx nodded. “You don’t seem surprised.”

“I’m not,” the older man shook his head. “I know my lover. I tried to warn Yelina off of me, but she wouldn’t listen when I said I found someone else.”

“He’s had very little love in his life.” The ME sighed. “Then he lost the one that loved him. He couldn’t do anything to save him, he tried, oh he tried, but in the end he buried him.”

Horatio looked out over the park. “No one’s loved me like that.”

“Horatio… he won’t let you go.” Alexx laid a hand on his arm.

He turned towards her. “I don’t want him to, besides I’m not letting him go. As far as Miami is concerned Rick Stetler killed Yelina. No one will suspect anything else.”

“Take care of him.” Alexx patted his arm.

“I will,” Horatio smiled at her. “I promise you, I will love him with everything that I am, nothing less than he loves me.”

Alexx nodded, “I suggest you go home and make sure my boy understands how much you love him.”

“Thanks for talking with me.” The redhead moved down the path then paused and turned back. “This situation, it doesn’t…”

“He’s my baby.” Alexx said simply. “He protects those he loves as do I.”

Horatio nodded, turned and left the park.

Speed fell back on the bed with a grunt. He looked up at his lover with a smile. “I love you.”

Horatio slipped off his shoes as he climbed onto the bed, straddling the younger man. “I love you, too.” He leaned down and kissed him hard and deep. “You’re the only one that has loved me this much.”

Speed ran a hand up the silk shirt, unbuttoning it as he went. “You are my world, I can’t imagine living without you.” He pulled the shirt off and gazed at the hard chest.

Horatio leaned back down and took the delectable mouth into another kiss. He lifted up just enough to look into those soft brown eyes. “I know the truth.”

Speed paused but didn’t look away. “I had to…”

“I know.” Horatio began to kiss down the elegant neck, while his fingers began to unbutton the white cotton shirt. “You have nothing to fear, I’m yours.”

“As I am yours,” Speed moaned as Horatio’s mouth moved down his chest.

“Know this my love,” Horatio growled lightly. “I will do the same if anyone gets between us.”

Speed’s breath quickened, his eyes going black with lust. “What happens now?”

Horatio unhooked the belt and quickly unfastened the black jeans, sliding them down the lean legs. “I will first fuck you into the mattress, and then later you can repay the favor.”

Speed moaned his legs spreading in an open invitation. “And?”

“Justice will be served, Stetler will pay for his crimes, and we will raise Ray Jr. together.” The redhead leaned down and took the hard erection in his mouth, licking and sucking as if it was delectable treat. Speed moaned wanting to thrust into the warm mouth but knew if he did Horatio would just pull away and stop the delicious torture.

“Please…” Speed begged.

Horatio quickly got rid of his own pants, grabbed the lube out of the nightstand and slicked his hard cock. Speed pulled his legs up and spread them in an open invitation. With one hard thrust Horatio claimed him hard and fast.

“Mine.” Horatio growled as he thrust in and out.

Speed moaned in pleasure as he was taken with such passion. “Yours.”

It didn’t take long for either man to find completion. With one last hard thrust Horatio buried himself into his lover and came hard, sending Speed over the edge. Soft pants filtered the room as the two came back down from their orgasmic high.

Horatio eased out of the younger man, causing Speed to whimper at the loss.

“I’m right here.” Horatio soothed back the unruly hair.

“She tried to take you away,” Speed muttered as he drifted to sleep.

“I know, and she was punished for trying.” Horatio held him close. “No one will separate us.” He kissed Speed’s temple. “No one.”

Speed drifted to sleep, content in his lover’s arms, knowing that nothing would separate them.
