Many ask why is Feb 22nd California Day.
It’s not the Day it was offically entered as a State that’s September 9th.
It’s just a day to celebrate the 31st State of the Union.
So to celebrate this day … Sylum Snippet!
Bruce looked up over this book at his Mate, trying to figure out exactly what was going on. Sadly he was going to have to admit he wasn’t really paying attention to the rambling, more entranced by the book he was reading. He had been only giving out ahhs, interesting, and hmms the past half hour, only to now realize it was a trap.
He sighed and set the book down, along with the reading glasses he didn’t wear or admit he needed. “What are you talking about?”
Dick grinned in triumphant at his Mate. “I know you weren’t listening. My topics were just getting stranger by the minute, just waiting to see when you would notice.”
“I was reading.” He gave him a pointed look.
“Ignoring me completely.”
“Reading.”
Dick laughed lightly as he stood and moved over to his Mate and gave him a quick kiss. “I stopped in to mainly let you know, that A list celebrity party we were supposed to go to later tonight was cancelled. I’m surprised you didn’t feel my utmost glee when I found out.”
Bruce sagged slightly in relief. “Oh thank the gods.” He really wasn’t in mood to do the hob nobbing that would’ve required.
“But since you weren’t paying any attention, I just rambled until you finally noticed.”
“I was reading.” He felt the need to point out again. Then pointedly picked up his book. “What were you rambling about anyway?”
“It’s California Day.”
Bruce paused for a moment, then looked over the edge of his book, not really wanting to get sucked into this conversation but found himself doing it anyway. “California became a state September 9th.”
“I know.”
“But then…” He paused. “I don’t want to know. Leave me alone, I’m reading.”
Dick chuckled, leaned over and kissed the top of his head. “I’m going for a swim. When you feel like it, you can come and watch while pretending to read.”
“Shoo I’m reading.” Bruce ignored the chuckled and focused back on his book. He needed to find out what happened next!
Ah, a nice quiet day at home. Happy California Day!
