Sylum Inspiration: Wilhelmina ‘Mina’ Harker

Camelot: Hunter

Wilhelmina was the second daughter of an aristocratic English family. She taught herself to read, write, and calculate numbers, making sure she knew how to take care of the house for her family.  Her father, though he never openly admitted it, was quietly proud of her and wished on many occasions for her to have been born a boy.

She met Jonathon Harker at her best friend’s wedding. He was the youngest son of a smaller noble family, and was rumored to be quiet and odd.  Nevertheless, she fell for him instantly.

Mina was the one who showed up at his house and demanded that Jonathon Court her.  His family, eager for him to get out of their house, did not object.

They were married soon after.

A few years into their marriage, Jonathon was requested to travel to Transylvania to deliver papers to Count Dracula concerning a land purchase in Essex. When he didn’t return, she set out to find him.

Dressing as a man in order to secure her safety on such a long voyage, she made her way across the Channel, then through Europe, following leads and trails left by a group of others all heading in the same direction.

When she arrived at Count Dracula’s Castle, she marched straight to the front door and demanded her husband.

The MacManuses

Camelot Hunters: MacManuses

Connor and Murphy are twin sons to Noah and Meagan.

To this day they still do not know who was born first.

When their father disappeared, accused of murder, their mother found work in the nearest Abbey.

Both boys lived a life of prayer and in good works to the Lord, educated and raised by the Monks, until as teenagers they saw first hand what their mother was enduring for their protection.  She died giving birth to another child, the bastard son of the Abbot.

The two boys in a fit of righteous anger, attacked the Abbot, killing him instantly.

Seeking some sort of justice for both their parents, they found themselves in Rome, and fell into studying for the Priesthood – seeking safety for themselves as well as their family name.  It was Father Kiernan who introduced them to Il Duce, but only once they had been Ordained.  He offered them a life to help those who could not help themselves, to do God’s work and cleanse the wicked from the face of the Earth.

(Dilios Note: it’s not known when they figured out Il Duce was their biological father)

Noah was amazed at their abilities, and proud when they surpassed even his own skills.  The two worked in perfect motion, their movements fluid, in complete sync with each other.

He Turned them soon after their introduction.

Sylum Inspiration: Jacob Frye

Camelot: Hunter

Jacob and Evie are fraternal twins.  They were born in Crawley, in 1868AD.

Their parents moved to the City of London to find work and support their family.  When they were five years old, their mother died of illness, and at twelve, their father was killed in an industrial accident.

Jacob found a job to make sure his sister had food.  She worked right next to him however, refusing to leave him behind.  They supported each other fiercely, and fought anyone who got between them.  Their actions brought them connections with local street gangs who could protect them from the law and potential threats of a less than legal nature.

Jacob moved up the ranks of the fiercest gang, his direct approach and use of brass knuckles taking out all opponents, while Evie always got the ones who snuck out the back.

Fate intervened when they met Nico and Sherlock.  (Dilios Note: Not that I know the two of them were running through London… Nope, not me)

Nico saw potential in both of them. He offered them a chance, and a future.

The siblings took it.

Sylum Inspiration: Noah MacManus

Camelot: Lead Hunter

Born in Ireland, Noah was the the son of Jacob MacManus, and apprenticed to him as a tanner.  He took over his father’s business as his skills grew, expanding it as his reputation as an expert leather worker spread even beyond Ireland, and across the water to England.

He married Meagan, the girl from next door, whom he had known since they were mere children, and they settled into a good life that promised great prospects, which were only enhanced when she bore him twin sons.  The boys were Baptized, Connor and Murphy.

Six months later, the newly installed Archbishop of their Diocese, stopped into the shop demanding work to be done for his new home.  He had heard of Noah’s reputation and wanted only the best work, offering a vast sum of money for the rapid completion of all requested items.

Unable to refuse, Noah crafted the leather work for chairs and other furniture, as well as for personal goods such as purses and bags, and when the Church refused to pay, claiming the work was shoddy and inadequate, Noah killed the Archbishop’s secretary in a fight.

Knowing he would bring harm to his young family, even if he tried to explain his actions, Noah fled for his life.

He wandered for many decades, angry at the world, and seeking justice that seemed utterly unobtainable given the power of the Church, he finally came to Rome, and meeting Father Kiernan changed more than just his outlook, but his purpose in life.

He would later attribute Kiernan to giving him the path he needed to follow. (Dilios Note: Kiernan stated later it wasn’t quite meant the way Noah took it, but as God does not make mistakes…)

That was when the name Noah MacManus disappeared and Il Duce was born.

For many centuries he was also known as Lachtna – which in Irish Gaelic means ‘milk-colored’ as reference to his hair, and was used for a certain degree of intimidation as the same name is said to have belonged to an ancestor of Brian Boru.

No one is quite sure about all that Noah actually accomplished in his human life, but the tales live on to this day.

Il Duce then met the real Brian Boru.

Sylum Inspiration: Patrick McKenna

Camelot: Member

Patrick was born in 1966AD, in Armagh, Northern Ireland to Mary Ann McKenna, a former Nun.  His biological father is unknown.

She raised him to be a devout Catholic, attending Mass every day of his life, and teaching him that God loved him, and He had a destiny waiting for him.

When he was six years old, he lost his mother in a UVF bombing at Armagh Cathedral – a protest against the visit by a Titular Archbishop on an Apostolic Mission from the Vatican, who had come to Ireland to try and broker peace.  The boy’s survival saw him labelled as ‘The Little Miracle of Saint Patrick’.

The Archbishop took Patrick back with him to Italy, formally adopting him, stating that he would raise the boy in God’s Church.

Patrick had the Vatican as his playground and school yard.  He remembered most fondly the Vatican Police officer who usually caught him running from the Nuns and dragged him back to his studies.

As he got older, he found himself talking with that same officer for hours, looking to him for wisdom and companionship.

Though he didn’t have to, when he was 18 he demanded that he follow through with his National Service to the Italian Military.  Though he never learned to use a gun, he excelled at flying helicopters.  Patrick never told the Vatican Police Officer, that he knew it was him who had made sure Patrick was safe during those two years.

When he returned, he dedicated his life to the Church, going through Seminary and becoming a Priest.  When his ‘father’ became Pope, he took the position as Camerlengo – much to the dismay of many older men in the Church who had sought the position for themselves.

He was proud to see his friend go on to become Inspector General of Vatican Police.

When his father suddenly died, he was devastated.

The night of Conclave 2006AD, everything changed.

Character Introduction: Robin Longstride

Robin_Longstride-300x266

Camelot/Sylum: Member

Name: Robin Longstride

Turn Date: 1148 AD

Sire: Nicolaus Meridius

Mate: Sir Degore (aka The Spirit)

***

Robin doesn’t remember much of his childhood. He remembers his dad having strong hands, and working as a stone mason.

He spent most of his life in the army. His natural skills with a bow and arrow had him moving up the ranks as an Archer.

As the crusades moved on he began to loose his faith. And when he was abandoned by his superiors leaving him and a few friends alone on the battlefield at Damascus he lost it completely.

He fought with his friends, until he was the last one standing. Praying for the final blow to end his life, he closed his eyes in anticipation of going home.

He woke up in a filthy jail cell.

Robin could hear someone in the cell next to him, and soon the two talked and became friends. Hearing the other prisoner say the Rosary daily helped restore his faith.

He could hear defeat in his friends voice, and knew now was the time to escape. The theory being escape or die trying.

They got out of the prison and onto the streets of Damascus. Soon they were surrounded, and ready to die with a sword in their hand, when men wearing black robes swarmed the area. He was pulled away when one bent over his friend, Antonio Crisafi, and begged him to let him save him.

Robin watched in horror, shock as the man grew fangs and bit Tony. He struggled against the one who held him, only to be told he was safe and then promptly blacked out.

Robin woke up in a comfortable bed, he got up and searched out those who helped, to find the dark haired man who bit Tony. He introduced himself as Nicolaus, then explained what happened.

He demanded to be Turned. No way was Tony going to survive without him.

Robin has dual memberships between Sylum and Camelot.  This is rare between the Clans, though many Vampires have ties to other Clans, the ones that swear loyalty to two Clan Leaders are not as well known.

Basically Robin has sworn loyalty to Nico and Arthur and if they call him he will be duty bond to answer.  If both need him, he would discuss with the other Clan Leader where he is needed most.
