Finding Eowyn was the easy part. Keeping up with her, not so much.
We were able to track her down after a shift at the Hospital, for a cup of coffee to talk with her, and see if she would answer our questions.
Interviewer: What is the quality you most admired in Queen Gwenhwyfar?
Eowyn: *sipped her coffee looking contemplative* Well she was … is my Queen. I admired her strength from the beginning.
Interviewer: What specific qualities?
Eowyn: *sets her cup down* You have to understand that Gwen was not new to being royalty, but being Arthur’s Queen was much different than being the Princess of Wales. She had more responsibility, and despite at times out of her depth she dove into her duties and figured out what was needed of her.
Interviewer: Was there a lot of tension in the court because she was Welsh?
Eowyn: *snorts* If anyone said anything to her face, she never said anything. But the few times there were comments about the ‘Welsh’ taking over, they ended up being visited by her Head Guard. Now let me tell you – you didn’t mess with him.
Interviewer: Do you two still talk?
Eowyn: I live in Italy not another galaxy. It was difficult to keep in touch centuries ago, but you know we have these things called phones and planes. *the eyeroll was pretty epic* We have lunch and go shopping at least once a month.
Interviewer: Is she much different from the Queen and the modern woman of today.
Eowyn: She is the Queen, will always be the Queen. Just because England doesn’t recognize Arthur and Gwen doesn’t make her less of a Queen.
Interviewer: *coughs awkwardly* Well … what does she think of the Lord of the Ring Series?
Eowyn: *snickers* We laugh at how men see woman in love. My ‘crush’ on Aragorn and her ‘affair’ with Lancelot. Seriously men’s ego always ruins a good love story.
Interviewer: So ….
Eowyn: *looks down at phone and curses* Gotta cut this short. *finishes her coffee and runs off*
Interviewer: Thanks …
Thank you for this interview. This is priceless – Seriously men’s ego always ruins a good love story.
lovely interview with a lovely woman.
