On Starz today there is a Friday the 13th movie marathon on. I love a good scare!
Given that I was born on 13 June – my birthday falls on a Friday once every seven years. I got over any superstition *years* ago.
Question. Any one know the origins of the belief that Friday the 13th was bad luck? I’ve heard several reasons over the years….
Not one to believe in that sort of thing, but after the morning I’ve had, might stay home in bed on the next Friday the 13th.
My oldest was born on 13 January, and that was a very good thing!
My day has been pretty great today!
So I don’t see a reason to view Friday 13th as unlucky
Well, I own a black cat, and I had to stand on a ladder today, but I have pizza and ice cream so I think it’s a pretty lucky day, actually.
I’m Spanish and in Spain it’s Tuesday 13th that’s suposed to be the “bad” day so…
It’s a commonly held belief that the reason Friday the 13th is considered unlucky is that on Friday 13, 1307, a raid on the Knights Templar took place, essentially wiping them out. The belief that this is the source of the “Friday the 13th” mythos got a huge boost from Dan Brown’sThe Da Vinci Code — but it’s totally bogus. As National Geographic points out, some knights were arrested on that date, but it had nothing to do with the superstition.
