Last week’s I saw someone ask if anyone had see Lone Ranger.

Which led me to put out the question for this week’s session.

Seen any good movies lately?  Do be mindful of spoilers etc…

One Major Rule – Be Respectful.

We all have our opinions on everything.

Just because you don’t agree with someone elses doesn’t give you the right to bash, ridicule or disrespect the other person.

Only thing you need to do – is reply to this post and start a discussion and see where it goes.

It’s been so long since I’ve actually been to a movie theater. I watch a lot of movies on my computer, though. I’m going to go back and re-watch ‘The Losers’ now that it’s in Sylum. That and ‘The Miracle of St. Anna’s’. There are a lot of movies I need to watch because I read them in a story.

I’ve seen most of the big blockbusters so far.

Iron Man 3 while there were a couple of continuity issues, I thoroughly enjoyed it. RDJ was awesome as usual.

Then there was Star Trek as I mentioned in my above reply to Rodney.

And then, Fast 6 😀 you knew I’d be seeing that one 🙂 There were some things I wasn’t sure about going in and some that I totally predicted but I loved how they set up the next movie and tied the whole series together. I could go on more but don’t want to spoil anyone 🙂

The most recent one I saw was yesterday and was White House Down. It was a fun action movie and I thought Channing Tatum and Jamie Foxx played well off of each other. There were some good emotional moments as well as some fun and ridiculous action scenes and banter.

Next up is hopefully Man of Steel, Wolverine, the next Percy Jackson and the new Riddick 🙂

  3. We’ve seen both “White House Down” (I’m a sucker for a Roland Emmerich film) and “The Heat”. Liked both but “The Heat” was laugh-out loud funny. Still haven’t seen “World War Z” yet – we keep trying to go on $5 Movie Night at our local theater but it seems like everyone else has the same idea and it’s sold out every time we’ve tried to see it. What can I say, we’re cheap.

I’m in SoCal right now prepping for Comic-Con so I won’t be able to see “Pacific Rim” until I get home *sadface* but I’m doubly sad that I had to miss “Sharknado” on SyFy. My friend doesn’t have cable so I had to experience everyone else’s shock and appalledness on Twitter.

I actually have a list of things that are available through Amazon Prime from the fandom list. I’m working on a list for netflix but it’s slow going. So if anyone wants my Amazon Prime list I’ll post it.

I had a movie weekend over the 4th… Monsters University (was cute and Nathan Fillion does one of the voices). Despicable Me 2 (I laughed and honestly enjoyed this more than Monsters University. I love the minions.)

I rented Jack Recher (actually better than I thought and that’s a lot for the simple fact that I’m not a Tom Cruise fan).

Then I saw World War Z. I really knew nothing about this movie going in but that it was partially based off of a book. The movie was interesting and entertaining. Actually has me considering kindling the book. The movie is paced fairly well (a few slow scenes) and if you are worried about blood and guts, there isn’t more than what’s in your typical action movie. It’s not really a zombie movie as you would think of a zombie movie. Also, there was a special guest by an Italian who just appears everywhere.

Oh, and thanks to Netflix I also watched Clue 🙂

Now the question, has anyone seen the new Much Ado About Nothing? It’s only playing here in one of the art houses that’s a little hard to get to.

I’m not a big zombie fan, but I did enjoy the World War Z book. It was well-written and had a nice perspective of how the world recovers from a major catastrophe like that. I haven’t seen the movie but from what I’ve heard about it and seen in the trailers, it’s nothing like the book.

I hear tell that a major difference is that the character Brad Pitt plays does more things with groups in the book than he does in the movie. I found that parts of the movie were pretty predictable. But there were also somethings that were just totally unexpected. All that being said I greatly enjoyed the movie. Part of it might have been that I saw it at the drive-in and that only added to the atmosphere of the movie. There is one scene where Brad Pitt looks up at a helicopter and no joking just as the camera cut from looking at the approaching helicopter to Brad Pitt looking up at the helicopter a real helicopter flew right over the screen and it totally looked like the character was looking at the helicopter that was flying right over the screen.
I actually didn’t know the movie was based on a book until my twin told me at the drive-in but the movie definitely made me interested in the universe that it takes place in. She and I are planning on checking the used bookstore for a copy. And if it’s not there we’ll probably buy the kindle version. I totally recommend seeing the movie to anyone that likes zombies.
On a different note does anyone know how long it would take for the infection to spread worldwide? My twin and I tried to figure it out but well it was a little bit more difficult than trying to figure out how long it would take for General Zodd in Superman to kill each human one by one (about 206 years provided there are no new births and all deaths are dealt by Zodd). Yeah, when you do the math his threat becomes a lot less scary.
Um, but I digress, I really liked World War Z and I’m looking forward to learning more about the universe through the book.

Actually the best movie I’ve seen recently was “Now You See Me.” I saw it as a triple feature at the drive in with “Escape from Planet Earth” and “Star Trek: Into Darkness.” I had a little trouble getting into “Now You See Me” as it followed right after “Escape from Planet Earth,” which was down right awful. But, once I shook off the uncomfortable emotions evoked by that children’s movie, the mystery of “Now You See Me” really sucked me in. And it was really pretty.

Truthfully, I haven’t been to see a movie at the theater since November when I saw ‘Hotel Transylvania’. I only saw it as a Saturday matinee, as I am uncomfortable in crowds. However, if I see a movie that I really wish to see, I tend to wait until it is out on DVD.

Same with me. The nearest theater to me is a forty-five minute drive and I don’t drive. I rent mine and always watch the previews. I’ve found some interesting movies I didn’t know about that way.
