The most out to sea I’ve ever been was riding the car ferries along the east coast. I enjoyed those short trips, not sure how I’d do on an extended cruise.
When I was small, we’d go up to Michigan and stay at Johnson’s Rustic Resort on Houghton Lake. My grandfather would take me out on the lake and we’d fish, Grandpa would bat my bait my hook ” ’cause I don’t want to hurt the worm! “. I was eight– child’s logic. I had a good time and caught some nice fish which I took straight to the waitresses dorm, because they asked me to get some for them. They squealed, thanked me and asked me to take them to Cook and ask her to fix them for their dinner. I dutifully took them to Cook and she solemnly promised to fix them that night for the girls. Looking back I realize she was trying not to bust out laughing. The waitresses each came by our table that night to thank me for the fish.
I enjoy fishing, although today, I catch and release.
Haven’t done any in a while. I (water child I am) find it extremely relaxing. There is nothing like sitting in a boat away from the shore. Very, very peaceful. I recommend that even if you never put a line in the water. I saw a cross stitch once that said it best: Dear Lord look after me, for the sea is so big and my boat is so small…

Recreational boating. Sad for me I don’t live anywhere near the water any more.
