  1. I used to have two cats. The first I named Thomas he got run over and then the other one a female got into a fight with my neighbors cat disappeared then return with kittens and then ran away. I had a goldfish who died after one night. I decided not to have any other pets after that.

  2. I always had dogs, I even showed in obedience and twice in the breed ring. I have loved them all. Now I have a cat, and yes his name is Tucker. He is in a league of his own. I have laughed more over his antics than I would have thought possible. He has proven that not all cats are graceful. He has fallen off window sill, my lap, the chair and of course our bed. He just seems to forget that stretching out past the edge is a bad idea. He also tries to land on areas that are way to small to hold any cat. He has jumped in the bathtub when it had water in it and he enjoyed it. He has definitely made his place in our lives. Live long and prosper Tucker.

My family has always been a cat family, I love them and their unique personalities. First we had Spottie who was more like a guard dog then a cat. ๐Ÿ™‚

Them we had Buttercup for 19 years. She was a great cat and let me do just about anything while playing with her. There were many days she was subjected to baby doll clothes ๐Ÿ™‚

Now I have Breesy, she’s the first pet I’ve had in four years and the first I’ve had on my own. I rescued her at about six weeks old, she’s about 14 now. I’ve never had one that young and it has definitely been a new and fun experience with her.

Our pets have always been a part of our family

There have been dogs owned by family members throughout my life. My family has personally owned two Newfoundlands, one when I was very little and our current one. The one when I was little my mom got from the pound. He was massive, black with a white chest, and I think he had heterochromia. But I’d have to check a picture. Our current dog is completely black. She is small for her breed at 109lbs, loves to lay in dark hallways, doorways, and tops of staircases. She also barks at everyone who comes in the house.
My younger sister had a rabbit for a while but she ended up developing a severe allergy to him or the hay. And since he lived in the kitchen he had to go. Don’t let rabbits live in the kitchen. Their fur gets everywhere. I didn’t really like the rabbit because I ended up doing most of the upkeep for him. My twin sister and I placed two conditions on my younger sister getting the they were we’d never have to see the rabbit or do upkeep on the the rabbit. Which seemed like I fine deal since my younger sister was 14 at the time and plenty old enough to handle cage cleaning.
We’ve also had multiple hamsters. I never owned one, the whole cage cleaning thing. But, I did train one hamster to open her cage and escape. She always went to the same spot so it was pretty easy to find her.
Not to mention the two parakeets we had when I was seven, or the aquatic frogs my younger sister came back with from a day trip to the beach. The next year she brought back a hermit crab.
I think my favorite pet is the dogs. I don’t have to clean a cage and they need all the loving I’m willing to give.

  5. My family has had both dogs and cats. The dogs have all come from the local humane society, and my sister has brought home a few kittens that hang around her workplace. We currently have only one cat which is technically my sister’s (since she’s the one who her brought home), but everyone says is my cat since she sleeps with me and I’m the only one allowed to rub her belly.

  6. I grew up on a horse farm so I had dogs and feral cats and we had a litter of kittens that were born in our barn at one point that adopted us. When I moved to go college and then met my husband we had a cat, then we had two cats and then we had four cats, but when we moved last year to Oregon we had to find them new homes. Well, my husband and I argued about it, but in the end they found new loving families. Now I have one cat that we adopted from a shelter as a kitten and she’s amazing, her name is Lilith. I do miss having dogs. I really miss having horses.

  7. Growing up there was always a dog in the house and I really missed that when I moved out and was not able to have a dog. But I got my dog fix again when I had to move back to help out the crumblies with the bills.

I got my first horse at thirteen and we adopted two semi-ferral cats from a shelter about 10 years ago to keep the mouse/rat population down when the crumblies got a house with land and stables attached (hence them needing help with the bills *rolleyes*)

We finally ended up dogless at Christmas and decided that we didn’t want to get another, especially as I ended up taking on a kitten from a friend on New Year’s Eve! But as they say, best laid plans…dad went and got a German Shepherd from a shelter without telling anyone. Mum decided she wanted to foster for Labrador rescue (she hates GSDs!) – her first foster dog arrived on Tuesday and I literally got out the car when I got home, took one look at him in the yard and said I wanted him!

So right now I personally have a 6-year-old Sarasa Comet fish (Richie), 21-year-old TB former racehorse Superleague Saints (Milly), 10-year-old semi-feral Abyssinian cross (Sasha), 9-month-old British shorthair (Jay) and 1-year-old Labrador x Dalmatian (Hemi) A massive amount of work but I wouldn’t be without them
