*coughs*

Still alive!! Ish.

Though I just realized it has been a while since I’ve done a Coffee House Friday *headdesk*

Despite the fact I’m back at work – I would rather be on my couch nesting like a good general – what does everyone do to get through an illness?  Special teas? Meds? Netflix?

I think it depends on the illness. If I have a cold for flu, I drink lots of lemon tea sometimes with honey with it. I carry around a roll of toilet paper and a plastic bag so I can blow my nose or cough into something and throw it away. And I wash my hands. Alot. Other than that, I try to survive and drink lots of water.

If I have a sinus headache, I stay in bed with my curtains closed, leave my glasses off, have a warm pack for my face, and drink a lot of ginger ale. And sleep the best i can. This puts me down more than a cold does.

I drink pineapple tea or eat pineapple coconut ice cream. Or just pineapple anything because that’s my cure all. Bad day? Pineapple. Sick? Pineapple. Bored? Pineapple. Also Netflix and lots of naps when I’m sick.

Well first there are 3 steps to any illness. 1. You’re afraid you’re going to die. 2. You’re afraid you AREN’T going to die. 3. You might live and it might not be too awful.

Once you get through those 3 then it’s a warm blanket, hot tea or cocoa and the entire couch and TV and movie privileges until you feel like a human again.

Tea made of fresh sage (lots of it), it’s the coughing remedy Nr. 1 for me. I think thats the only thing I drink when I’m sick. Staying away from spices and diary products (not counting butter but only when I’m feeling better).

Eating (when able) alot of rice, noodles and bread with drops of oil (I prefer olive oil but anything works): helps with stomachache. When I’m really lucky my BF makes me fresh chickensoup. 🙂

I try to stay in bed and listen to music. It keeps you calm and entertained. My absolute favorite is still the soundtrack to Lord of the Rings. Music has the advantage that it wont hurt your eyes and give you a headache.
