My favorite doughnut is a Boston Crème Doughnut. There many reasons for loving Boston Crème doughnuts; the chocolate icing, the custard filling, the being a doughnut, but I think I probably like them so much because I went through a phase as a child of only eating pudding. This doughnut is sort of like indulging in that act of rebellion from my youth with the added benefit of chocolate. And also there is usually the accompaniment of a nice cup of coffee.
Doughnuts in general have a special place in my heart and they have come up in my life as a source of constancy in the weirdest of ways, from the free doughnuts my father used to get, to the doughnut shop visited late when our hotel was evacuated for fire (I’m not sure if I’ve ever had a vacation that didn’t have a fire happen somewhere), to ritual doughnuts with my twin. Doughnuts have featured as one of the more frequent pastries in my life, and much to my morale improvement. I wonder in what esteem others hold the doughnut and its effects on their life.
