Well I kinda think I did take a road I had not anticipated taking. I quit my job moved to another state got a new job and then bought a house. Fingers crossed I get a raise at my year review, though I love living in a state were I only have federal taxes taken out of my check.
Sometimes you got to take the leap of faith.
Awesome on the house!
My dad wanted me to follow him into education, and my life probably would have been closer to the idea of normal if I had listened. I did get a 2 year degree, but I also traveled the country behind the wheel of a tractor-trailer with the guy that taught me how to handle the big rigs. We’ve been together over 30 years. Who knew a Cancer could live with a Sagittarius that long.
I’ve rubbed elbows with many of what would be considered sub-cultures of the mainstream from truckers to pagans … Nudists to gold miners, and spent 7 months roughing it in the wilds of Oregon, California, Arizona, and Nevada.
My life may not have been prosperous monetarily, but spiritually it has been a journey of growth and creativity. As my health has caused to me slow down physically … Mentally, I’m pushing myself to put my writing more in the public eye to the point of jumping off the cliff into publishing some of my longer original pieces of fiction. Some of my short pieces were well received locally, which has helped boost my confidence to walk down that path.
Now that is an adventure! Could probably write out some of your adventures of life behind a big rig 🙂
I have used my knowledge in some of my writing, but never from my personal POV. 99% it’s as mundane as any job. The other 1% usually happens with tornados, drunks, Fast & Furious wannabees, and severe weather.
I was going to study to become a nurse, but changed my mind and became a cook instead.
Also, my biggest dream as a child, was to become a Librerian(?).
I started life to be a teacher … ended up an Archivist.
I went to college for four years had enough credits to graduate, but I wasn’t able to get my Associate degree. I was diagnosed with Retinitis Pigmentosa before starting college.
