Flower Day

Flower Day

It’s National Flower Day!

So what’s your favorite flowers?

For me … there isn’t many I can have around me as I have allergies!!

But while we’re here – A Snippet (another one from my list! Though for this one – no one answered but I took the suggestion)

Mark Wessex hummed softly to himself as he signed the last of the paperwork his assitant left on his desk.

Governments were run on paperwork!

With one last flourish of his pen, he dropped it onto the pile and rubbed his hand.   He remembered when he did that with ink and quill, it took longer and his hand would cramp for days!

He wished they would just except digital signatures it would make his life a whole lot easier!

Mark stacked the papers slipped them into the folder, clicked his pen closed and tieded up his desk.   He rose moaning slightly at the realization how long he had been sitting there.   Winter had hit London hard this year, so he made sure to slip on his heavy long coat, checked to make sure his gloves were in the pocket, then wrapped the woolen knitted scarf around his neck.   With his bag packed, he grabbed the folder and headed out of his office, dropping the paperwork on his assitant’s desk on his way out the door.

It was much later than he thought, and was likely the only reason he made it out of the building in such a short time, not getting caught by a half a dozen people asking for favours.   He slipped on his earbuds, clicked on his favorite playlist and started his journey home.   He could have a driver and car, but he enjoyed the walk, and taking the tube.   Plus, he was able to stop by his favorite bakery and flower shop.   He grabbed desert and a bouquet of flowers, then headed down the last few blocks to home.

“Honey.”  He called out as he stepped into the lobby.   One of the servants came to take his coat and scarf, along with his bag.   He smiled when he saw his darling Mate watching him from her office.  “I know I’m late. Paperwork.”

She shook her head.  “The one thing that has stayed the same over the centuries.  Bureaucracy and paperwork.”

Mark laughed as he made his way over to her, holding out the flowers.  “For you.”

She smiled then kissed him softly.  “They’re beautiful.”

“How is he?”  He asked eyes drifting towards the stairs.

“Resting.”  Max sighed, hating seeing her boy so exhausted.   “I had food sent up for Luther, how about joining me for a small supper?”

“I got desert!”  He held up the bag filled with treats.  “Also made sure to get our boys favorites.”

“You are a darling.”   She slipped into his arms appreciating his strength.   The fragrance of the flowers surrounded them, it always took her back to happier times.  “Thanks for the flowers.”

“I know you secretly love them.”

She laughed lightly, then gave him a quick kiss.

You must be a mind reader! I was thinking the other day as I reread Ethan tales what if he sought sanctuary (lol) with Max. My flower choices are daisys, runcucuses? And dahlias.

      Loved the snippet!
I love flowers– so it’s hard to choose. Currently, I am searching for a specific Toad Lily, Breadfruit Poppies (I want to make lemon poppyseed cake with fresh Poppy seeds), and Hellebores (Lenten roses). **G**
