We have a bird feeder out back, and every morning watch the little guys try to stack 20 of them onto it. We also have an owl living somewhere nearby, and can totally understand Warrick’s growling over the HOOT!
Do you have favorite bird watching spots? Bird Feeders in your yard or patio?
Got a few suetcakes on the porch and set out in front of a window (so the cat can birdwatch, too) Even now in the winter, there are still a large variety of birds. Bluejays, cardinals, chikadees, nuthatches, tufted titmouses, junkos and a bunch of different woodpeckers. In the summer we also have goldfinches, house finches, rose-breasted grosbeaks, bluebirds and robins, wrens and sparrows….and hummingbirds.
I have several bird feeders in my garden and like to watch the birds feeding. Now, in Winter, it’s important here to feed them as there is not very much for them to find. There are several kinds of tits, sparrows, robins, woodpeckers and in Summer we have starlings too, they fly to Africa in Autumn. Red squirrels will come too when they think it’s save 😀
We’ve always had feeders, but until it gets cold enough for the black bears to hibernate, we have to bring them inside in the evening.
I don”t have a feeder– yet — but I do put out corn, chopped fruit and veggies and oatmeal. Really whatever Ihave on hand. I feed bird, chipmunks and squirrels. I had one of my chippers stand up to a couple bluejays and win. They took off and she stuffed her pouches and went back to her hide-hole
The jays came back and chased a squirrel away. I also provide water in a large bowl which I change out everyday during the summers due to mosquito larvae….ick!
Let’s face it, I love all my animal friends.
