Sylum Inspiration: Ethan Hunt

Sanctuary: Lead Hunter

 

Ethan grew up during the American Civil War, and had heard the stories of his Uncle who fought gallantly during the war, and then disappeared into the Far East.  Never to be seen again.

He followed in his Uncle’s footsteps and joined the Army. He was recruited by James Phelps out of the Army and into the Military Intelligence Division.

Ethan was good at espionage. He was fast on his feet and thought three steps ahead of everyone else. James used him for many operations through Europe, including to help steal top secrets from Intelligence sources in Britain.

It was at during one of these missions, that Ethan began to realize Phelps was playing a double sided game. When he confronted the man, he found himself in a far worse situation.

Sylum’s Big Bang

Sylum’s 2025 Big Bang

 

Well this is still going on!  And bring back the sign ups – in case anyone else wanted to sign up.   I’ll run this till end of the month.

Information:  We’ll be taking sign ups for the next six weeks, which is longer than normal Sylum Events.  You can sign up to be a writer or an artist.

Writers:

  • Stories will have to be at least 15K 
  • You will need to work with Bj on the storyline
  • Suggestions for ideas – there’s a big wiki filled with many characters that do not have stories
  • The story will have to be complete when it’s posted in July 2025
  • Depending on how many artists sign up – an artist will be assigned early next year (at this time you should have over half of the story completed)
  • The two of you will have to work with each other on style of art
  • Stories will be due in June of 2025

Artists:

  • There will need to be at least 2 pieces of art and a story banner
  • I will work with each artist to pair them with a story/writer
  • You will need to work with the writer on style of art for their story
  • Artwork will be due in June of 2025

Sylum Fundraiser: September

 

As you know running Sylum is a second job.  I love it and plan on keep doing it for years to come.

But at times it’s a bit much, and every few years reach out and ask for help.

Costs have been rising across the board that also means for server space, security, and spam control.

We’ll be setting out to do another Fundraiser for Sylum in the month of September.

Do not worry – we’ll put out reminder posts leading up and through September w/links to the fundraiser.

Sylum Advent 2024: Sign Ups

I’m not sure how it’s August – let alone planning for ADVENT!!

Okay – this is your opportunity!  Come join the chaos …. fun of Advent.

 

What is Sylum Advent? 

Sylum Advent is our Annual Winter Event.  It will start on December 1st and go through to New Years Day, January 1st.

What do you need to do to participate?

You will need to sign up and state what your interested in doing.

Reminder:  If you would like to work on a Sylum story, you will need to contact me with your idea, and I will have to see a draft ahead of time to make edits or notes.  It’s best if you focus on stories that aren’t attached to main characters being used in Arcs or stories by other authors.  Check out the Sylum Wiki – lots and lots of characters that need some attention and love!

Sign Ups close July 30th.  If we do not get your request, by then it will not be included.

Update on the General

 

Hey guys – I know I just disappeared for a few weeks, but well 2024 is turning into a shit year.

Sadly – my mom passed a few weeks ago, and I’ve been dealing with … well everything.  

I’m working to get things re organized on the Sylum side of life, but it’s taking some time.   

Posts will be sporadic as I get back into things, but just to let you know I’m still here!

Sylum Inspiration: Enki Sumer

Enki isn’t a Vampire, nor is Human.

He’s a Navigator and from the same planet as Davy Jones and Blackbeard.

He was pulled into their war, when Blackbeard enslaved his mermaids.  He was dragged to Earth, and severely wounded.  He found a safe place, in the Northern Seas, specifically like to stay near Iceland and Norway.

He became more known to Vampires after he met Hiccup and Toothless.  He ended up helping out Noromer, yet hasn’t told him quite yet.  He has a soft spot for him, especially after he faced Davy Jones head on, and won (sort of).

He finally got his mermaids back, after Jack Sparrow tricked Blackbeard back into the locker, leaving them finally free of his influence.

To this day he still prefers the Northerns Seas.  He stops by to see Gran, and talks to the Mariner a lot.  He gets a kick out of Jack Frost, always had and is happy he has his ‘Bunny’.
