Sherlock Holmes Day

Sherlock Holmes Day

It’s Sherlock Holmes Day – so someone wanted a snippet!

Sadly it’s not one from my list!!

Nico glanced at his phone picking it up with a smile.  “Is this an emergency or did Watson make you call?”

“I can call my dear brother on my own, thank you very much.”  Sherlock answered though he seemed distracted.

“Well it’s not my birthday or any major holiday, nor is it yours.”

“How would you know, you can’t remember your own kids birthday if it wasn’t for Thomas.”  The tone was extra snarky.

Nico couldn’t help the snort.  “So when is Neal’s?”

There was a pause, some shuffling a grunt that was likely from Watson.  ‘How would I know.  He’s your kid.’  “I’ll have to check with Thomas.”

There was an awkward silence then deep chuckles.  “I called cause it’s a very important date!”

Nico looked around his desk for any note Thomas would’ve left him to make sure he remembered.   He sucked at dates, between the different calendars through out his life he gave up tracking.

“You have no idea!”

“Fine share your wisdom with me.”

“It’s Sherlock Holmes Day!”  He sounded so proud.

“But the character’s birthday is in January.”

There was a long pause. “That you remember.”

“Because it’s your birthday.”

“Ahh my dear Nico you do care.”

“Always have.”

“Well you suck at showing it.  But I do have news.  Watson and I are going to spend more time in London.   Open the old place, have some tea, solve some crimes.”  He was positively giddy.  “Watson said I had to tell you we would check in with Jake, and Arthur.”

“Don’t tell Arthur you checked in with Jake first.”  Nico couldn’t help the smile, it was good to hear his brother more excited.  “How is old 22 1/2 baker street?”

“Someone keeps trying to buy it, not new.”  There was some shuffling of paper and muttering.  Nico could tell Sherlock was getting distracted.  “I keep saying no, might have to send Jake.”

“No using the Rooks to scare off buyers.”

“That’s what they are for! That’s it!  I knew it wasn’t right….”

Nico stared down at the phone, noticing the call ended.   He shook his head, laughing lightly, when he got a text from John.  ‘Sorry about that he solved a case off a toothpick.’
