State of the Clan: 2025

 

Let’s start off with the fact 2024 was pretty much a wash.   It was not a good year for me and well nothing Sylum related actually got done, through blessings of friends and pure tenacity we were able to post the normal events!  So we’ll wash our hands of it and move onto the next.

Normally, I do not talk about the ongoings of the world outside Sylum.  This has always been a safe place where the real world doesn’t exist.   This is still very true.  I want everyone to know that despite everything this is still a safe place, where we’ll focus on fun things that are part of this crazy world that is Sylum. 

I’m glad everyone is here for the ride.

Now for a more serious moment.

For those who live in the US understand that the next four years are uncertain due to political changes.   

I’m going to be very firm on this next statement.

If you voted for the asshat that is taking office – leave.

No, I’m not going to debate or discuss the reasons why.   I do not care if this upsets you.  I also do not care if your offended.   I will not tolerate anyone who voted for a person who lies, is a convicted criminal, and wants to destroy the very fabric of this nation.   If you make a fuss, insult me or anyone on this blog, or try to argue your point – you will be removed.

And because of over these over zealous policies and the moral police, there will be changes within Sylum.  This is for protection for myself and for this site.  Because I refuse to leave this behind – I will not stop, but I will protect.

Over the next months or as long it will take, any stories on the blog will be removed, along with artwork.   All of the stories & art will be found in the Archive.  We will still post Sylum Events on the blog – as it’s way to complicated to move it to the Archive and we all know WordPress is twitchy on good days.   Be warned that once the event is over, when we move everything to the Archive, the post on the blog will stay but the contents will removed and replaced with a link to the Archive.

On that note – Do NOT give out links to stories, art, videos etc… to anyone who does not have the password.

Speaking of … we’ll continue changing the password yearly.  If we see a problem or influx of problems we’ll then discuss about changing the password more frequently.

• Fanmixes: 2 – Some fun music that is inspired by Sylum
• Stories: 4 + 2 Snippets – Fun side stories showcasing variety of characters
• Sylum Wiki: All of Ehre/Weisheit Clan is finished with images!

Okay now on to what’s coming in 2025.   Cause we got some good stuff coming!

 

20th Anniversary of Sylum!

Yes.

Yes it is.

This year marks the 20th anniversary of Sylum.  Where the hell has the time gone? No seriously.  It’s been a wild ride!

So this year we’ll have some fun events to celebrate the 20th Anniversary.

Spring Fling: Sign Ups have already begun  – Event starts: April 20th
Seven Days of Summer: No Seven Days this year – instead we’ll have a Sylum Big Bang
Sylum Big Bang: Sign ups in February – Even starts in October
Sylum Advent: Sign Ups will begin September 1st – Event starts: December 1st

Stories ….

 

Obviously little got done via Sylum stories last year for good reason.

This year – trying to get back into the groove.  It has taken some time to get back into things, but I’m working on it.

So yes the goals are to finish Family!  

Speaking of … the old Archive and subsequent old version has died a horrible death.  I know there those that haven’t read it and kinda need at least portion of the information to understand some stories.  Especially as the structure of the story is the same, just some additions and clean ups.

So I will be offering up copy of Family and Evolution in the next couple of months.   This will be one time offer.  So if you miss it – hope someone in the group has it, cause the next time you see Family it will be the new version.

We’re always working on other stories at the same time, and believe me there is a lot that is planned.

While we’re on the discussion – what about Afternoon Fic?

I do have a Star Wars story in the work – I’ve teased it a few times.   I will likely push it out to get the gears going, how I will do it, I’m not sure yet.  So keep your eyes out for that coming up soon.

The who, what, and where of Sylum

 

• Sylum Discord:  Yes we still have one!  It hasn’t been used for a year, but it’s there.  Look this could be a good spot for all of us to have a safe spot to just be.
• Sylum Archive:  We upload Event Offerings pretty quickly – so make sure to check in to see what’s been posted.  Leave a comment!
• Sylum Blog:  Reminder to get posts in your email make sure to subscribe.  We don’t use social media (okay it does post to my very old tumblr account but that’s it)
• Sylum Wiki: We’re back on track on getting new images for all the characters.  Ehre/Weisheit is finished.  We’re working on the next Kin Clans.  We have goals!
• Sylum Security:  We changed the password back in November.  This is a yearly event.   So, please join the security group – to always get the up-to-date password.
• Guest Posts: Is anyone interested?  I could actually use the help on occasions.

Be part of the community.   I’ve made a goal for myself to answer comments and questions, to be more engaged.  I would hope you will also do the same.

Make sure to comment on stories, not just during Sylum Events, but on the archive and even the wiki!

Let’s work on being more social on the Discord – I admit haven’t been my strong suit, but lets all work at it.

Last year we did a fundraiser!  And THANK YOU for all those who contributed.  Because of it,  we were able to pay for another 3 years of hosting fees and spam protection!
