Enki isn’t a Vampire, nor is Human.

He’s a Navigator and from the same planet as Davy Jones and Blackbeard.

He was pulled into their war, when Blackbeard enslaved his mermaids.  He was dragged to Earth, and severely wounded.  He found a safe place, in the Northern Seas, specifically like to stay near Iceland and Norway.

He became more known to Vampires after he met Hiccup and Toothless.  He ended up helping out Noromer, yet hasn’t told him quite yet.  He has a soft spot for him, especially after he faced Davy Jones head on, and won (sort of).

He finally got his mermaids back, after Jack Sparrow tricked Blackbeard back into the locker, leaving them finally free of his influence.

To this day he still prefers the Northerns Seas.  He stops by to see Gran, and talks to the Mariner a lot.  He gets a kick out of Jack Frost, always had and is happy he has his ‘Bunny’.

Thranduil is not a Vampire, but as he’s been around for a long while, so he has some form of immortality.   At this moment he’s very secretive of where he’s from.

Rumors have it that he close friends with Thorin Durin, who knows more about his history, but also isn’t talking.

It is know that he’s tied to Sauron, who is a known enemy to Mod Clan.

(Dilios Note: I received a note that he has no ties to Sauron except a deep seated hatred and that I needed to update my books)

Sylum Inspiration: Dwalin

MOD: Hunter

Dwalin was the first born son of the King’s Advisor Balin.   His father raised him to learn the difference between a King of the people and greedy bastard.   When he was six years old, Thorin was born.  He took one look at the baby and knew what his father meant.   From that moment on he dedicated his life to his king.

He taught the kid to fight.

He got the kid out of trouble.

He cursed the day Thorin grew bigger and taller than him, and he was one of the biggest in Erebor.

He stood by and watched as Thorin made a deal with the dragon, then challenged Thror.   He smiled when the old bastard realized the dragon wasn’t coming to save him, and Thorin was going to kill him.

He smiled brightly when Thorin married, mourned with him when she died giving him two beautiful strong sons.

Thorin had laughed when Dori had yelled at him, ready to deny his offer of marriage to her youngest sister Ori.   Mainly because every one knew Nori the middle brother, and him were ‘close’.

He loved his wife, was deathly afraid of his sister in law and ignored Nori’s ability to get in and out of trouble.

His world shattered when some warlord showed up demanding tribute, and without hesitation killed Thorin in front of them.   He swore to Fili he would seek vegence, only to be shocked when the young new king told him Thorin was alive … in a way.

Before they could even figure out what was going on, the warlord was back and the village was destroyed.   There were thirteen of them, he was the lucky one that had his whole family.   Thorin held him as they buried Balin on the road.   When they met Bilbo Baggins he knew the look on his friends face, something he hadn’t seen in decades.

Once they got to Builwyf, and everything was explained about Vampires, he had contemplated getting Turned as Thorin would need him, but then the warlord showed up with his horde.   He still ended up Turned, but lost everyone in the process.

Sylum Inspiration: Thorn Durin

Mod Kin Clan: Hunter

Thorin was the son of Thrain who was the son of Thror.   The king of an established yet unknown village of Erebor up in the mountains of Norway.

His grandfather Thror was not a kind man, and ruled his people with an iron fist keeping all it’s wealth to himself.  In one of his campaigns he brought home a wife for his son, Thrain.   Not soon after she gave birth to Thorin.   Thror was happy for a strong heir, especially after the disappointment of his own son Thrain.

She raised her son to be strong, caring, and treat all with kindness.   It was soon obvious Thorin took after his mother, in all things.  He had her dark hair, strength, determination, and as he grew she would smile and tell everyone he took after his grandfather.  She gifted Thorin, her grandfather’s sword – Orcrist.  A weapon that had been passed down, and made of metal Thorin had never seen.

Thror soon realized that the woman he brought back was turning his people against him, and had her killed, along with his useless son.   He set out to raise his grandson to be a strong King, never seeing that by the age of twelve Thorin was already plotting his fall.

Thorin made a deal with Smaug, offering up a crystal that was a family heirloom from his mother’s side.   Smaug agreed to back Thorin, and at age sixteen he challenged Thror for the throne.   In the end, Thror was dead and Thorin was crowned king.

He married not soon after, but tragically lost his wife in childbirth.  She gave him two beautiful sons, Fili and Kili.

For the next twenty years Erebor prospered.  Thorin made good alliance with other villages, trading their minerals and weapons for food and grains.  It wasn’t until a warlord showed up demanding retributions that they lost everything.

Thorin ended up Turned, his family trying to figure out how to best handle this new situation.  Then days later the warlord’s horde ransacked the village destroying everything and everyone.

Sylum Inspiration: Bilbo Baggins

Mod Kin Clan: Member

Bilbo Baggins was the only child of Belladonna and Bungo Baggins.  He learned his adventuring skills from his mother and farming skills from his father.

He inherited Bags End when he was sixteen, after a horrible winter that had killed almost a third of the small village of the Shire.   Instead of selling it or worse marrying the neighbors daughter Lobelia, so they could get their hands on his farm, he made it prosper.

He knew he was the talk of the village as he decided not to marry, and had plans to give the land to his neighbors the Hamgees.

Then one day his world changed, when a group of refuges landed on his doorstep.   He heard them asking for help at the town center but no one wanted anything to do with them.  Bilbo refused to let them wander off without food and rest.   He would tell you he fell for Kili and Fili first, and then young Gimli.   When they stated their father couldn’t enter his home as he was to tall, he couldn’t believe it so made a plate of food and marched to the barn to give the inconsiderate bastard a piece of his mind on being a gracious guest!  Only to realize that yes Thorin couldn’t enter his house as he was huge!  Bilbo wasn’t small but he felt tiny compared to him.

They ended up staying a week, and Bilbo spent all the time with Thorin.  He hated the idea of them leaving, and contemplating running off with them, but new his duty was his farm.   Only for fate to step in, and they all had to flee as the Shire was destroyed.

It was on the trip he learned about Erebor, the dragon Smaug, and the fact Thorin was technically dead.    Once they arrived and met Builwyf so many of his questions were answered.   He knew he belonged to Thorin, so took Gran’s offer to be Turned.

Sylum Inspiration: Kili Durin

Mod Kin Clan: Hunter

Kili was the second born son of Thorin Durin.   He was born 15 mins after his brother, and is the reason his mother didn’t survive.   His father never held it against him, never made him feel anything but love.   But when some of the older lords didn’t like what Thorin was doing they made sure to hit home on Kili.  Though usually it didn’t end well for them.

As he wasn’t the first born, he had a tiny bit of leeway.  And used every inch he could get, including getting his brother into trouble and always out of it.  He took up archery, and became a hunter after a while, able to track reindeer for miles and drag it back home for the village.

He met Tauriel when he was sixteen, everyone considered it fate as Thorin had married their mother at the same age.   They had waited for a couple of years, before getting married.  It was a cause of celebration for the village, and one of the happiest days of his life.

Six months later his world was destroyed when a Warload came into Erebor demanding tribute.   Kili was sure he screamed when his father fell,  and hadn’t stopped until Gloin dragged him out of the throne room.   He pulled away from the warrior and ran down the corridors not wanting to believe his father was gone.

It was Fili who found him stating their dad was alive but something was different.  Kili was the one who had no doubts that the man in front of them was their father.  His eyes were warm and filled with love when he looked at his sons, it was their father and he would face off with anyone who didn’t believe him.

And just when he thought his world was righted, the warlord attacked the village.   One of the first to fall was Tauriel, she fought like the warrior she was, trying to save as many woman and children as she could.   Fili pulled Kili away when she fell, but it was Thorin who lifted him up and fled the village.

There were thirteen of them who survived.   Eleven by the time they met Bilbo.   Kili thought maybe they would finally find rest when got to Builwyf but they were followed.  In the end, there was five left.   He had thought to embrace death, but while lying there next to his brother, he realized he didn’t want to leave his family behind.   So when his father asked – he said yes.

Sylum Inspiration: Fili Durin

Mod Kin Clan: Hunter

Fili is the first born son of Thorin, he’s older than his brother by 15 mins.   He knows his mother died when they were born, and that he has her coloring and smile.   His father also says her temperament, slow to anger but get out of the way when it happens.

He remembers always following their father around, learning about taking care of the people.   He was told stories of his great grandfather, and knew that he never wanted to be like him.

As he was the oldest he was expected to take over, it wasn’t something he wanted but knew his duty.  Kili teased him but always supported him, even backed him when he argued with Thorin about finding a wife.   Fili had figured out early on that he wasn’t interested in woman, but knew at one point he was going to have to marry.  He just hoped Kili popped out grandkids first.

Then one day a warlord came through demanded tribute.   Thorin had refused,  the warlord attacked, but was shocked at how well Thorin fought.  His father was a formidable warrior, and well huge.

Fili watched in horror when the warlord killed his father.   Fili was held back by Dwalin as he screamed and lurched for the murdering bastard.   They moved their father’s body to his chambers, Fili refused to leave his side.  He was the first to notice that the wound was healing and his father was waking up.

Fili was relieved and terrified.  They soon figured out that Thorin wasn’t different just well ‘dead’.   They didn’t have time to contemplate it when the village was attacked and they barely escaped the destruction.

There were thirteen of them who survived, and that was the first time Fili was introduced to Smaug, and had first idea of what his father had become.

They travelled south, coming onto a small village when they asked for help they were denied, but Bilbo Baggins still took them in, it was obvious the farmer had been smitten with their father.   What had shocked Fili & Kili was that their father was smitten in return.

Once they arrived at the sanctuary, they learned about Vampires.   Fili wasn’t surprised Bilbo was his father’s Mate.  It gave him hope that his father wouldn’t be upset about his own inclinations.   Then the warlord showed up and everything went to shit.

Angela Bennett was a systems analyst from Venice, California who telecommuted to Cathedral software in San Francisco.  She had little friends outside her computer, and her mother had just passed away from Althezihmers.

One of Bennett’s co-workers sent her a floppy disk with a backdoor labeled “π” that permitted access to a commonly used computer security system called “Gatekeeper” sold by Gregg Microsystems, a software company led by CEO Jeff Gregg.

Just before she left for a much needed vacation she discovered her friend Dale, who was flying out to see her, had been killed in a plane crash.   Something hadn’t set well with her, so she took the program with her to Mexico.

While on vacation, where she met Jack Devlin.

(Dilios Note: This is the name she knows him as, there has been no way to verify if this was is real name. The only thing we do know is that he is a Rogue)

He seduced Bennett, trying to get the disc.  He hired a mugger to steal it, and then killed the kid in the processes.  His goal was to kill Angela, but instead something went very wrong, and she ended up Turned Without Consent.

lucius

Mod: Legal Advisor/Spy Liaison

Lucius Turned his Mate instantly.

The two easily settled with Mod, though the uncouthness sometimes drove them both to long vacations in civilized society.

Lucius has been a good lawyer to Builwyf. His sneakiness has saved their Clan’s lands a variety of times, and his outright manipulation of Nazis during World War II had saved many lives.

When he had learned of Tavington, he was curious about a family line, but when his feud with Timothy Quinn popped up, Lucius always made sure that Timothy understood he was the handsome one with long hair, not that other one.

When his wife took the idea to go to school to get her own degree, he supported it 100%, and when the schools refused to take a woman, he made them cry and question their life choices.

Lucius has worked hand in hand with many of Kin Clans’ lawyers to make sure to protect Clan assets and members.

She outlived her husband, and all but one of her kids, and that was before she was Turned.

Sylum Inspiration: Hiccup Horrendous Haddock III

Mod: Lead Hunter

The island of Berk is a remote Viking village, from which dragons periodically steal livestock. Hiccup, the awkward son of village chieftain, Stoick the Vast, is too small to fight the dragons and instead fashions mechanical devices under his apprenticeship with Gobber the blacksmith. During one attack, Hiccup believes he has shot down a Night Fury, an extremely rare and dangerous dragon. Hiccup later finds it trapped in his bolas but finds that he can’t bring himself to kill the dragon and instead sets it free. Stoick assembles a fleet to find the dragons’ nest, leaving Hiccup in a dragon-fighting class taught by Gobber. Hiccup realizes that the Night Fury cannot fly properly because of its crippled caudal fin. Hiccup gradually domesticates the dragon and gives it the name “Toothless”, for its retractable teeth. Hiccup makes a harness and prosthetic fin that allows him to guide the dragon in free flight. By studying Toothless’ behavior, Hiccup becomes proficient in subduing the captive dragons kept for training. Stoick’s fleet arrives home unsuccessful, but he is cheered by Hiccup’s success.

Astrid, a tough Viking girl who Hiccup has a crush on, discovers Hiccup is training Toothless but before she can tell the village, Hiccup takes her for a ride to demonstrate his relationship with the dragon. Toothless unexpectedly takes the pair to the dragons’ nest where they discover a gigantic dragon named the Red Death that eats the smaller dragons unless they bring it stolen livestock.

Back at the village, Hiccup trains a captive dragon instead of subduing it in front of his father but Stoick mistakenly angers the dragon. Toothless attempts to protect Hiccup in the ensuing panic but is instead captured by the Vikings. Hiccup accidentally reveals to Stoick that Toothless is capable of locating the dragons’ nest. Stoick disowns his son and sets off for the nest with Toothless as a guide. The Vikings expel most of the dragons but are overwhelmed by the Red Death until Hiccup, Astrid and their fellow pupils fly in riding the training dragons from the academy and provide cover fire. Hiccup almost drowns trying to break Toothless free from a sinking ship but Stoick saves them both and then reconciles with his son. Toothless and Hiccup destroy the Red Death but Hiccup’s left foot is torn off in the fight. Hiccup regains consciousness on Berk where his foot has been replaced by a prosthesis.

Five years after the Viking village of Berk made peace with the dragons, they now live among the villagers as helpful companions. Hiccup goes on adventures with his dragon, Toothless, as they discover and map unexplored lands. Now 20 years old, he is being pressed by his father, Stoick the Vast, to succeed him as chieftain, although Hiccup remains unsure if he is ready for this responsibility.

While investigating a burnt forest, Hiccup and Astrid discover the remains of a fort encased in ice and encounter a group of dragon trappers led by Eret, who blames them for his fort’s destruction and attempts to capture their dragons for an insane conqueror named Drago Bludvist. The two dragon riders escape and return to Berk to warn Stoick about the dragon army that Drago is amassing. Stoick orders the villagers to fortify the island and prepare for battle. Hiccup, however, refuses to believe that war is inevitable. After Stoick interrupts Hiccup’s plan to get Eret to take him to Drago, Stoick explains that he once met Drago at a gathering of chiefs, where Drago, mocked after offering the chiefs his service in return for their servitude, murdered them all, with Stoick as the only survivor. Undeterred, Hiccup flies off with Toothless in search of Drago to try to reason with him.

They are captured by a dragon rider named Valka, who is revealed to be Hiccup’s long-lost mother. She explains that she, like her son, was unable to kill dragons. After being carried off during a dragon raid, she spent twenty years rescuing dragons from Drago’s traps and bringing them to an island nest created out of ice by a gigantic Alpha dragon called a “Bewilderbeast”, which controls smaller dragons. Stoick tracks Hiccup to the nest, where he discovers that his wife is still alive. Simultaneously, Astrid and the other riders kidnap Eret to find Drago, but Drago captures them and learns of Berk’s dragons.

Drago and his army lay siege to the nest, where he reveals that he has his own Bewilderbeast to challenge the Alpha. A battle ensues between the two colossal dragons, which ends with Drago’s Bewilderbeast killing the nest’s Bewilderbeast and becoming the new Alpha. Drago’s Bewilderbeast then seizes control of all the adult dragons, who hypnotically obey. Hiccup tries to persuade Drago to end the violence, but Drago orders him killed. Toothless, under the Bewilderbeast’s influence, approaches Hiccup and launches a blast, but Stoick pushes Hiccup out of the way and is hit instead, killing him. The Bewilderbeast momentarily relinquishes control of Toothless, but Hiccup drives him away in a fit of despair. Drago maroons Hiccup and the others on the island and rides Toothless, again under the control of the Bewilderbeast, to lead his army to conquer Berk. Stoick is given a Viking funeral and Hiccup, now having lost both his father and dragon, is unsure what to do. Valka encourages him by telling him that he alone can unite humans and dragons, and inspired by her words and his father’s, Hiccup decides to return to Berk to stop Drago.

The dragon riders fly baby dragons back to Berk, as they are immune to the Bewilderbeast’s control. They find that Drago has already attacked the village and taken control of its dragons. Hiccup confronts Drago and a brainwashed Toothless while the other riders work to distract the Bewilderbeast. Hiccup succeeds in freeing Toothless from the Bewilderbeast’s control, much to Drago’s surprise. Hiccup and Toothless briefly separate Drago from the Bewilderbeast and confront Drago on the ground, but the Bewilderbeast attacks them, encasing them in ice. However,
Toothless blasts away the ice, revealing that both he and Hiccup are unharmed. He then challenges the Bewilderbeast, firing at it repeatedly, which breaks its control over the other dragons, who now side with Toothless as the new Alpha dragon. All the dragons repeatedly fire at the Bewilderbeast until Toothless fires a final massive blast, breaking its left tusk. Defeated, the Bewilderbeast retreats under the sea with Drago on its back. The Vikings and dragons celebrate their victory and Hiccup is made chieftain of Berk.

(Dilios Note: He sat down one day to tell me the story – it’s not well known – if it is it’s a children’s story)

The fight with Drago did not end. A few years later Drago returned, attacking the village. Astrid, who Hiccup had married, was giving birth to their first born. Toothless had stayed, protecting mother and child.

Tragically they had lost Astrid.

Hiccup, in his rage, destroyed Drago and his army, giving the island its freedom. Through the battle they had lost most of the dragons they had protected. The only survivors had been Hookfang, Stormfly and Toothless.

Stormfly was found later curled up next to Astrid’s grave, giving up her own life to follow her human to Valhalla.

Hiccup raised his son Stoick Hiccup the IV to be a proud dragon warrior.

The death of Drago had brought Berk to Builwyf’s attention. He sought out the Great Chief, surprised to see such a young man, with a baby strapped to his chest. The two had a long sit down conversation and when the time came he offered to Turn him.
