Elizabeth Norrington stared at the cabin door; her fine clothes were disheveled, her hair falling out of their clips, sweeping over shoulders. There was blood and soot caked onto her hands and face. She looked over at her husband, fear deep in her eyes as she tried to stay strong.
“James, what about little William?”
“He’ll be fine; our son is strong.” James knelt next to her.
“But why did they take him from us?” Elizabeth demanded.
“Damn Pirates,” Governor Swann muttered. “There is no reason, but that he is the son of an Admiral and my grandson. They probably figured we would give them money for his release.”
“I’ll give them anything.” She looked over at her father. “I just want my son…”
They all paused as the door opened. Elizabeth gasped in shock when she saw who entered. “Jack!” She jumped up and moved to his side. “Thank God…”
Captain Jack Sparrow held up his hand and shooed her away from him. “I’m not here for pleasantries or tea, Mrs. Turner…. oh wait, that’s Mrs. Norrington now.”
“Sparrow!” Norrington stood up and moved by his wife. “What are you doing here?”
Jack looked over the happy couple, and shrugged before moving about the room, fiddling with items before putting a few of them into his pocket.
“Jack.” Lizzy stepped closer to him.
“Mrs. Norrington, I suggest you stay near ye husband, for ye own protection.” He smiled, turning towards them. “As you know how us Pirates will just blunder and steal what we want.”
“What’s going on?” she demanded. “Who are these Pirates? My son, where is he?”
“Little William Turner looks just like his daddy. All those curls and dark eyes.” Sparrow smiled softly. “So tell me, Lizzy, how soon after Will’s death did ye run off and marry the stick up his ass?”
“How dare you!” James stepped forward, pulling his wife back. “Elizabeth has done nothing wrong.”
“Oh, that’s right; it was you and papa Swann that planned the grizzly murder.” Sparrow leaned against the desk. Every pretense of drunk pirate was gone from his face and demeanor.
“Will was lost at sea.” Elizabeth stared at the pirate as if he was a stranger and in essence he was; she had never seen Sparrow like this.
“Oh darling, you believe that or have you fooled yourself all these years?” Jack tutted at her. “What did your husband and father tell you? That Will’s ship was caught in a hurricane and lost at sea? Though it wasn’t hurricane season, and no storms where in the area.”
“Freak storms happen all the time,” Norrington pointed out.
“Oh yes, freak storms filled with pirates and slavers.” Sparrow waved his arm around. “Much like this one.”
“You will stop this ludicrous story and tell us what is going on,” the Governor demanded.
“So was it because Mr. Turner was a son of a pirate or because he was a blacksmith that had ye all tied up in knots, Governor Swann?” Jack asked, walking over to him. “But he was a good man and people loved him, so you couldn’t just toss him out. After all, your daughter loved him.” He turned to Elizabeth. “Or so you thought.”
“I loved Will!” She slapped him. “And how dare you say I didn’t?”
“You loved the idea of him, luv. The adventure, the romance. Did you think he would run off and play pirate with you?” He smirked at her. “Must’ve been shockin’ to find yourself married and carrying the next Turner, all that adventure gone… and here ye were married to a blacksmith.”
“I will not tolerate…”
“Did you run off to your good friend Norrington, crying how it wasn’t fair to be the wife of a blacksmith?” Jack ignored all of them. “Or did dear James loving ye from afar take matters into his own hands, the Governor wishing the problem to be dealt with?”
“I have no idea what you’re talking about, Jack.” She held her ground. “Will was going to England to sell some swords, and the ship was lost at sea.”
“Yet he didn’t take any swords with him.” Sparrow shrugged. “How long till ye heard that ye were a widow?”
“William Turner was lost at sea,” Governor Swann stated. “End of discussion.”
“Aye, ye’r right he was lost at sea, just not to a storm. Instead his ship was raided, and he was sold into slavery.” Sparrow’s eyes narrowed at the men. “Interesting that the pirates knew which ship to attack.”
“I’m sorry, Elizabeth, but what he said was true.” James knelt down next to her. “We didn’t want to tell you. We tried to find him…”
Jack snorted. “A whole month, then ye married her.”
“My daughter was a widow, and with child….” Swann snapped. “Norrington was doing her a great service.”
“Must’ve annoyed ye to no end, that she was carrying a wee Turner.” Jack waved his hand at the two. “Lizzy, darling, what your loving husband is trying to tell ya, is that he hired Captain Sao Feng to raid the ship. Everyone survived but Turner.”
“No…” She shook her head, looking at James.
“The good Admiral gave Feng his freedom for one small tiny trade in human trafficking.” The pirate held Norrington’s eyes.
“I will not stand for anymore of these lies!” James bellowed as he moved towards Sparrow.
“Truth hurts, luv?” He pulled his sword and pushed the tip into his chest. “Ever wonder what happened to William? How he suffered?”
“I’m sorry for his pain…” Swann tried to reason with the pirate. “But we didn’t…”
“I will not stand here and listen to your lies,” Jack snarled at the two of them. “I’ve hunted for four years for young Turner, only to find him gone. I hold you all responsible.”
“I loved Will!” Elizabeth yelled. “I mourned his loss, but I had to think of my son.”
“Don’t ya mean our?” Jack asked. “He is Mister Turner’s son, or does he even know who his father is?”
“I’m his father.” James glared at him.
“Of course ye are.” Sparrow tilted his head slightly. “I would of thought he really was, except for those brown eyes are very much Will’s.”
“I demanded my son!” Lizzy stated. “I’m tired of this foolishness. Even if what you say is true, Will is gone. I’ve moved on, made a home and gave his son a father.”
“But yet ye don’t see the small details in that logic.” Jack walked up to her. “If it wasn’t for them…” He motions towards the growling men. “Ye wouldn’t be in this predicament. It’s like the good book says, do unto others as you would do unto you.” He waved his hand dismissively. “And since ye kindly sold William to the slavers, I will kindly return thee favor.”
“NO!” James rushed him only, to get slammed back into the ground by another Pirate.
“Ah, Admiral Norrington, it is a pleasure to do business with you again.” Captain Sao Feng motioned for two other pirates to come into the room. “Take the men to the pens, take the girl to my chambers.”
“Do what you want with me; spare Elizabeth.” James struggled to get close to the Pirate.
“Am I to show her the same consideration you had me show Mr. Turner?” he asked, smiling. “He was very beautiful and fought against my touch.” He walked over to Elizabeth, touching her hair softly. “I have a feeling she’ll do the same.”
She spat at him. “I’m no whore.”
Captain Feng laughed. “That’s what he said. But he moaned so prettily, as well as you.”
She looked over to her husband. “Tell me, James….”
He looked away from her.
“You sold him!” Elizabeth cried. “You condemned him to this Hell, and now you’ve condemned us.”
“I did it for you,” Norrington said. “Saved you from a life of nothing.”
Elizabeth looked around the room then grabbed the dagger out of Sao Feng’s belt and slammed it into her chest. Sparrow was quickly by her side, holding her to his chest. She reached up and took a hold of his hand. “Take care of his son.”
“I will,” Sparrow promised as he held her. He laid her softly onto the ground, standing up without looking over at the two screaming men. “I will leave you to it.”
Captain Sao Feng nodded his head. “I admire her courage, but he had a stronger spirit.”
“Will Turner was the best pirate I knew,” Captain Jack Sparrow said as he left the cabin. He headed back up to the deck to see his crew waiting for him. A young boy stood silently, holding onto Pintel’s hand. Jack knelt down and smiled at him. “I’m your uncle Jack.”
“Where’s my mommy?” he asked quietly, trying to be brave.
“I’m sorry, son,” Jack said, picking him up. “She had to go away, but she asked me to take care of you.”
“And Father?” Little Will sniffled.
“Do you know who your Papa is?” he asked, ruffling his hair slightly. “Ye look just like him luv.”
“Sofie would tell me stories of my Papa.” Will buried his face into Jack’s neck. “Father didn’t allow mommy to talk about him.”
“I knew ye papa.” Jack carried him over to the Pearl. “A good man, a fine pirate. Did ye know he helped me find me Pearl? Fought undead pirates, and saved the girl.”
Will gripped Jack’s shirt, listening to the pirate tell stories of his Papa. He soon slept as the Black Pearl sailed away from the burning Naval Vessel. Jack would make sure that young Will would grow up befitting of his Papa. He laid the child down on his bunk and moved the curls from his face.
Pintel looked in on the two, setting food down on the table. “He’s a little Angel.”
“So much like me Will.” Jack leaned down and kissed his forehead. “How long ’til we make home?”
“Good wind on our side, Captain,” he informed him. “We should be home in a few weeks.”
Jack nodded as he sat down at the edge of the bed and just watched the young child sleep. He had a duty to Will, to raise his son right. Pintel smiled and left the two alone. It was good to see a smile on the Captain’s face; it had been absent for two long.
A few of the crew came up, wanting to know if their Captain was alright. Pintel assured them that Captain Jack Sparrow was slightly saner than normal, and to be cautious around the young Will. Some of the crew remembered Will; others had heard the tales. They all were loyal to their Captain, and would protect the innocent life on board.
~ Weeks Later ~
“Captain.”
Jack turned and looked over to see Pintel pointing to the Island. Sparrow picked up the young child and set him on the railing. “See that, William? That’s home.”
“Aye Captain!” He smiled.
“That’s me boy.” He grinned at the child. “Now what do we tell the crew?”
“Hoist the sails! And bring the stern to the right, ye squaligy dogs!” William yelled out to the crew.
The whole crewed awed.
Captain Jack Sparrow glared at them. “Ye heard him. Get ye lazy bones moving.” They all ran off to do their jobs to get the ship brought into port.
Little Will was curious about his new home. He had asked many questions about the Island. Jack told him elaborate stories of the lost King of the Caribbean giving him the Island because the famous Captain Jack Sparrow had saved the King’s only daughter from a man-eating Monkey. Will had giggled with each part of the story
In the weeks since he had taken the young child from the HMS Freemont, he had not left Jack’s side. He watched sometimes from behind the Pirate, but he was always watching, his brown eyes full of curiosity as he asked questions about the ship and about his papa. Jack had fallen in love with those curious eyes, much like he had for little Will’s Papa. His heart ached each time he looked upon William’s son. The two were so much alike.
“Do you live with the crew like on the Pearl?” he asked as Uncle Jack braided his hair, putting in a small bead.
“The crew stays with me Pearl; we’ll stay in the house up the beach,” Jack explained. “Ye will meet my first Mate, Gibbs; he’s an old sea dog that has tales about Sea Turtles.”
“Sea Turtles?” Will asked.
“Big ones.” Jack picked him up and carried him out to the deck, and down the ramp to the dock. He stopped at the end of the pier by Gibbs, who was waiting for them. “Master Gibbs is all well?”
“Aye Captain, all is well.” He smiled at the young child. “And may this be the famous William Turner the Third?”
“Aye.” He blushed and hid his face into Jack’s neck.
“He’s looks just like his Papa.” Gibbs nodded, biting back his emotion. “The house is ready for you, Jack.”
“Thanks, luv.” He set William down and took his hand and headed for the house up on the hill. As they got closer, Jack smiled when he saw the figure standing on the deck. He stopped and knelt down next to Will. “I want to introduce you to someone.”
“Who, Uncle Jack?” Little Will asked, looking over at the man standing on the porch. He leaned against a cane, but he had soft smile and eyes.
“Your Papa.” Jack looked up and smiled. “We’re home, Will.”
“Not even a month, Jack, and you have him dressed just like you.” Will stepped down the steps slowly, leaning heavily on the cane. “Hello, William.”
Little Will looked up at his Papa, then over at Uncle Jack. Sparrow nodded and stepped back slightly. Will took a few steps towards the stranger. Turner knelt down onto the ground, cringing as pain shot down his leg. He held up his hand, stopping Jack. “I know we don’t know each other, but I would like for us…”
Will sniffled then ran into his Papa’s arms. William dropped the cane, both knees on the ground as he sagged slightly, holding his son close, tears running down his cheeks. He looked up at his lover. “Thank you.”
Jack knelt down next to his family and held onto them both. “Ye home, both of ye are home.”
