It’s World Migratory Bird Day!
Yes it’s a day, learn something new every day.
So of course this means a snippet – sadly I couldn’t fit this into one of the ones I owe people! *sigh*
“Alexander it is always good to have your company.” Ahsoka gave his Clan Leader a quick smile. “Especially, when you venture this far south.”
“It has been too long my friend, and thought it would be good for Nicolaus to see more of the world, then the few places he has been.” Alexander sipped his tea, though not his favorite choice of drink. “Gave me an excuse to make sure you are not getting into trouble.”
Ahsoka placed his hand over his heart. “You dishonor me.” It did not take long for either to break the seriousness of the moment with laughter. “Have you told him?”
“No, too many variants at the moment.” Alexander held up his hand to stop the argument that he new was coming. Ahsoka was one of the few who could go toe to toe with him, and he appreciated it. There was a reason he trusted the man to run all his affairs in East Asia. “In time.”
“How is Marcus handling…”
Alexander snorted, his chuckle low and wicked. “Adjusting. They are developing a friendship that will outlast old histories.” He paused when hearing a clattering of calls and squawks. “What in the hell is that?”
“Migration season. So many birds come over this area during this time. It is fascinating to watch, wonder where they all come from and going. There are so many types, one day I will learn what each of them are.” He glanced out the window. “Though that is louder than usual.”
The two made their way outside, to find all the noise was centered around Nicolaus. He was surrounded by birds. He was laughing lightly, talking to those clamoring around as if trying to get his attention.
“Well this is new.” Ahsoka watched as the Roman moved through the flocks of birds. A smaller one was sitting on his arm, trying to cuddle into his shoulder. He glanced over to Alexander, hands waving towards the scene.
He shrugged. “I have seen this a few times but not to this extent.”
“It is not that new.” Marcus leaned against his Mate. “Birds have always flocked around him. Thought never to this extent.”
Nico chuckled as he reached out to give one of the bigger birds a scritch. “You have come a long way, and still got a way to go.” He laughed even more, then held out his arms as the bird hopped over and spread his wings and gave him a hug, then ran off and took off back on his route.
For the next few days a group of birds would stop by and say hello.
This snippet gave me the warm fuzzies! I have always loved any story that includes Nick with the birds that follow him and want to snuggle him. I especially love the little barn owl…
Thanks for cheering up my day!
